Zscaler CSV
Configure the Zscaler CSV connector to export device and software inventory data
This guide explains how to export Zscaler data for devices and software into CSV files.
Objective
The Zscaler connector allows you to export IT infrastructure information into CSV files generated by PowerShell commands. These files are then integrated via a CSV connector on our platform.
Prerequisites
- Administrative access to Zscaler.
- PowerShell installed on the administrator's machine.
- Necessary permissions to execute PowerShell commands and access Zscaler information.
Steps to Generate CSV Files

In Device Management page > Enrolled Devices > Device Overview > Export.
- Include the following fields:
- All device details fields.
- Custom device details fields (User, OS Type, Device Model, OS Version, and VPN State).
- Disable Reasons
- Service status
Software
In Inventory > Software Inventory > Export with the following fields:
- Device
- User
- Software version
- Vendor
- OS

2. CSV Generation
- Initiate the export process
- Download the generated CSV files
- Verify data completeness and accuracy
- Prepare files for connector integration
3. Data Validation
- Ensure all required fields are present
- Verify data format consistency
- Check for any missing or corrupted entries
- Validate date formats and special characters
Required Information Summary
To configure the Zscaler CSV connector, please provide:
- Device Export CSV: Complete device inventory with all specified fields
- Software Export CSV: Software inventory with installation and version details
- Export Schedule: Frequency of data updates (daily, weekly, etc.)
- Data Delivery Method: How CSV files will be transferred (SFTP, email, etc.)
Ensure regular exports to maintain current visibility into your device and software inventory. We recommend at least weekly exports for optimal security monitoring.
Consider setting up automated exports using Zscaler's API or scheduled reports to ensure consistent data availability.
Troubleshooting
Common Export Issues
- Incomplete Data: Verify all required fields are selected before export
- Permission Errors: Ensure your account has necessary permissions for device and software inventory access
- Large File Sizes: Consider filtering or segmenting large exports for easier processing
Data Quality Checks
- Verify device counts match expected inventory
- Check for duplicate entries or missing devices
- Validate software installation dates and versions
- Ensure user associations are correct
